Curator currently working from Amsterdam, Vijfhuizen, Arnhem and Berlin. Anno 2021 Zippora Elders works as a curator and is based between Amsterdam and Berlin. She is director of Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen, an art space and UNESCO heritage in Haarlemmermeer (since 2016), and co-curator of the international quadriennale sonsbeek20-24, in Arnhem (since 2019). Previously she was curator at Foam, museum for photography. Zippora studied Art History and Heritage Studies, specialization Museum Curator, at the University of Amsterdam and the VU University; extracurricularly Philosophy, Curatorial Practice (Research School for Art History) and Public Administration (Leiden University). She regularly writes for publications, Dutch magazines such as Metropolis M and De Witte Raaf, and (guest) teaches at art schools (Rietveld Academie, KABK, AHK a.o.). She is also an advisor (Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Council for Culture) and board member (Kunsten ‘92, Hard//hoofd, FIBER, Rizoom) for organizations in the cultural sector, particularly in the field of crossover, nightlife and digital culture. Recently she participated in the jury for the Dutch entry Biennale of Venice (2019) and the jury for the municipal art acquisitions of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2020). In 2021 she is on the jury of De Appel curatorial programme. She is founding guest curator of The Performance Show during Art Rotterdam and advising curator for Fondation Constant. She was a resident at ABA Berlin, Danish Arts Foundation in Copenhagen, EXPO Chicago, Kooshk Tehran, HOW Museum Shanghai and curator for Majhi residency 2020. In-between all she developed private art projects such as Intimacy op de Schans (2017), Webcamcurator (2015-16), and an authorless lunar virtual space for art & text (2013-2014). Zippora is co-author and editor of CONTRAST, the CKV teaching method for vmbo/havo/vwo, with an interdisciplinary and more inclusive approach to high school art education.
